Oh Asher...

Now, when Asher Roth came out I was a little skeptical, as I usually am of white rappers, because let's face it, so many of them are corny/cartoonish/sussbuckets and a caricature of what a rapper is. But 'I LOVE COLLEGE" was definitely a kind of feel good party anthem that was hard to ignore, and it grew on me. Plus the video made college look like a blast. Heck it might have even made a nation of slugs work a little harder in high school so that they could go to college and get wasted and whatnot.

I even went so far as to buy his album ASLEEP IN THE BREAD AISLE and it wasn't so bad. 'Lark on my go Kart' is actually pretty dope, and as far as I am concerned any song that talks about BLUMPKINS is considered GOLD in my books. A couple other grimey cuts made Asleep in the Bread Aisle a solid purchase. However it seemed to me like it was more a compilation of songs than something that came together as an album.

Asher Roth started off 2009 on fire, with a huge single and an album. After that, he kind of just feel off the map. However, he just dropped his new mixtape "Seared Foie Gras With Quince & Cranberry Sauce".

Personally, this mixtape made me realize how fucking boring and how much of a mediocre rapper Asher Roth actually is. I mean at first I was down with his cool calm swagger, but really now he just seems like a lazy lyricist who doesn't particularly try his hardest on most of the joints off of this mixtape. I got bored so quickly, and his monotone-ass voice just put me to goddamn sleep. Occasionally he drops a good cut, such as one of the solid songs on the album, 'FUCK THE MONEY' with B.O.B.

Otherwise this mixtape was pretty doo doo, and so is Asher Roth most of the times. Occasionally, when he actually tries to GO IN he is alright. But lets see where he goes from here.

Oh, and his friend "BOYDER" might be one of the worst/most annoying rappers I've heard in a hot minute. Fuck.
