I'm trapped in Chile right now. As far as things go, I'm pretty gosh darn lucky. If you haven't been living with your head in the ground or up your ass, then you are probably aware of the fact the central Chile was struck by an earthquake 8.8 in magnitude early this past saturday morning. So far the death toll has exceeded 700 (which is quite low considering the strength and force of the eq), and the estimated damage cost is around 8 billion dollars. The town of Concepcion (which I was in a few weeks ago) has been levelled, and a bunch of other coastal cities have been destroyed as a result of tsunamis and whatnot. So in perspective, being bored isn't much to complain about. My return date (originally March 20th) might be postponed, but we're not sure about that. The aftershocks are still occurring, although I'm sleeping through most of them, or just straight up not noticing them. The rest of my family is though.
According to NASA scientists, the earthquake actually tilted the earth off it's axis by 3 inches, which is a shitload. The days are something like 1.26 microsends shorter. To be honest I thought I noticed that- not.
