Scott Pilgrim

I'm kind of a sucker. I get sucked into shit.

There are a few things in my life that once I get into them, I become pretty attached, and then later suffer some withdrawal symptoms on some weird shit. And it usually has to do with things that make we happy, or w.e
And I'm not talking drugs, I'm talking kinda embarrassing stuff like...

Friday Night Lights (The TV Show, I'll probably do another post devoted to this later)
Avatar: The Last Airbender
NARUTO!
Zorro (The Book)
DUNE
IT
Harry Potter
Spiderman: Brand New Day

AND

Scott Pilgrim!

Scott Pilgrim is a series of graphic novels written by Bryan Lee O'malley. I've always really been into comic books, and never particularly into graphic novels. Plus Scott Pilgrim, looked pretty stupid at first glance. so I definitely wasn't going to pick it up. However, it was apparently the best selling graphic novel at my comic books shop, shout out to THE BEGUILING, and one of the clerks highly recommended it. So I said, what the hell, and I picked up the first volume. What else can I say other than the fact that I picked up the remaining 4 volumes within the week, which was in fact a little price, each volume costing about 14 dollars. However definitely worth the money I paid. I think I read the whole series start to finish like 6 times in a row. I couldn't get enough of it. And when I finished the the 6th volume, I was actually a little depressed knowing that I didn't have any more new Scott Pilgrims to read. I actually MISSED the characters. Plus the 5th one ends on.... well I'll let you get to it. And did I mention that 6th and final volume has yet to come out? Well yeah.

This is the synopsis of the series, pulled from the WEBSITE:

"Scott Pilgrim is 23 years old, living in the big city with his gay roommate, just trying to get by in this crazy world. He's in a band. He's lazy. He likes video games.

Scott Pilgrim likes the new girl in town, Ramona Flowers, but to win her heart, he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. Seven! Evil! Ex! Boyfriends! Lucas has muscles! Todd plays bass with his psychic powers! The Twins are twins! Matthew Patel is an Indian guy! AND MORE!"

SO! In conclusion, if you are going to listen to any recommendation of mine not related to Hip Hop (because you should heed all of those), it should definitely be me telling you BUY AND READ ALL THE SCOTT PILGIM graphic novels. The story is amazing, the drawings are hilarious, and have an immense amount of honesty and depth in spite of seeming rather simple at first. The script is crazy, and you end up loving the characters, pause.

Plus you should read them before the movie comes out. Yeah it has an adaptation. Although I am almost positive that Michael Cera will ruin it for me.
